WABEN Launches 2025 Essay Competition for Girls in Public Secondary Schools

The Women in Agriculture and Bioresource Engineering of Nigeria (WABEN), a division of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers, is pleased to announce the 2025 edition of its annual Essay Competition. This initiative aims to encourage young girls in public secondary schools across Nigeria to explore the role of women in agricultural development.

Theme: “Women in Agricultural Development: Opportunities and Challenges”

The competition is open exclusively to female students in the senior secondary school category, providing them with a platform to express their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges faced by women in agriculture. Participants are expected to submit essays with a maximum word limit of 1,000 words.

How to Participate

The competition consists of two stages:

1.     Registration – Interested students must complete their registration by filling out a Google form available at https://tinyurl.com/waben2025 or by scanning the QR code provided in the promotional material.

2.     Essay Submission – A soft copy of the essay and a scanned handwritten version must be submitted via email in PDF format. The email subject should follow this format: WabenEssay-Name of School-State.

Submissions without prior registration will not be considered.

       1st Prize: ₦250,000

       2nd Prize: ₦150,000

       3rd Prize: ₦100,000

       Additional consolation prizes
